c'è scritto anche nel link, è una piastra di fissaggio, generalmente sta fissa negli anelli che sorreggono l'OTA e va a incastro nella montatura

Uhm, questa sera cerco di capire... era inclusa nel telescopio, ma l'avevo "persa" nell'imballaggio, stasera cerco di capire come funziona e se mi serve oppure è un extra (non adatta al mio newton)

diciamo che è fondamentale per fissare il tubo ottico alla montatura!

la montatura è fissata tramite una "barra lunga a coda di rondine" simile :angel:

Ho trovato invece questa descrizione, relativa all'oggetto misterioso:
